In 2011 Lanhydrock Farms was awarded a grant from the Rural Development Programme for England to undertake a feasibility study on the Estate land holding to enable the Estate businesses to have a clear understanding of the renewable technologies available at present and in the future.
This feasibility study identified how best to implement the renewable technologies on the land and buildings within its ownership. The Estate is taking steps to remove itself from the grid and has already installed some 120 kws over the last five years and plan to install another 250 kws over the next 12 months.
This should enable us to produce about half the electricity that we use on the Estate from renewable resources. Out target though id to be completely self-sufficient long term using all the available technologies.
